Man arrested in connection to Halloween party shooting death acquitted
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – The man accused of being connected to a fatal shooting at a Gray Street Halloween Party last year has been acquitted of all charges.
Marquis McKinney had been charged with Murder in the Second Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in connection to the murder.
On October 29, police responded to a residence on the 400 block of West Gray Street. There, they found one person had suffered a gunshot wound.
The person, later identified as 30-year-old Devoshay Adams, was taken to the hospital, but later died as a result of his injuries.
According to the initial indictment, McKinney had shot Adams in the abdomen.
However, during today's trial, the jury ruled he was not guilty on all three counts.
