Hammondsport, N.Y. (WENY)-- Classic cars and seaplanes will be taking over Hammondsport next week when the annual Wings and Wheels returns to Keuka Lake. The event provides insight into the history of air and land travel in our area.

There will be something for everybody when Wings and Wheels drives and flies back into Hammondsport next weekend. The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum puts on the event as a tribute to Curtiss, who was a pioneer in land and water travel.

"It's a chance for people to see the whole variety of seaplane aviation, and it's kind of fitting for this lake because this is the lake where seaplane aviation was born," says Bob Knill, Co-Owner of Finger Lakes Seaplanes in Hammondsport.

At the event, there will be seaplane pilots with their planes, performing flyovers, doing target drops, and showing off their precision takeoff and landing. Finger Lakes Seaplanes will also be on hand, offering people a ride over the lake for $50. Knill says it's an event you don't want to miss.

"It's just a great event to see something they may never get to see, and get a chance to do something they may never get to do again," Knill explains.

And then there's the wheels. Car enthusiasts can enjoy the sights and sounds of classic, exotic, and foreign cars. There will be awards in multiple categories, and you get to be the judge.

"If you're a car enthusiast or an aviation enthusiast, or just a motorized anything enthusiast, it's going to be a great show," says Knill.

This year's Wings and Wheels is happening on September 15th and 16th from 10:00am to 4:00pm in the Village of Hammondsport and on Champlin Beach. It's free to attend and open to the public. For more information, click here: https://www.wingsandwheelshammondsport.com/index.php.
