Man connected to Southside Elmira death sentenced to jail
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – One of the suspects accused of being involved in the death of a man on Elmira's southside earlier this year was sentenced to jail Tuesday afternoon.
Kharii Monroe was sentenced to a year in the Chemung County Jail for assault in the third degree.
According to police, Monroe punched the victim Israel Luna in the head, causing him to go unconscious.
Luna's body was found in a dumpster.
The other two suspects, 36-year-old Fabian Bonaparte and 17-year-old Julilan Rivera are returning to court on September 28. They are both facing one count of criminally negligent homicide.
