CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) – Two men are behind bars after police received reports of a burglary in the City of Corning.

According to Corning Police, they received a report of a burglary in progress on Sunset Drive in the City on September 11 at about 10:45 p.m.

Police say they located the vehicle described by witnesses fleeing the area on West First Street. They attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused.

The pursuit ultimately ended in a parking lot on State Street in the city.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 27-year-old Kevin Walker, allegedly then fled the vehicle on foot; he was later found and arrested in the area of West Fifth Street.

The passenger of the vehicle, identified as 28-year-old Adams Phillip, was arrested as he tried to exit the vehicle.

Police say they found items inside the vehicle linking both Walker and Phillip to the reported Sunset Drive Burglary.

Walker has been charged with:

  • Burglary in the Second Degree
  • Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Second Degree
  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in the Third Degree
  • Reckless Driving and numerous vehicle and traffic violations

Phillip was charged with:

  • Burglary in the Second Degree
  • Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Second Degree

They were both taken to the Corning Police Department and held overnight for arraignment in city court.

Corning Police were assisted at the scene by the Steuben County Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police.
