Woman Arrested for Grand Larceny Charges Out of Canisteo
CANISTEO, N.Y. (WENY) – A Hornell woman has been arrested on grand larceny charges after an investigation in the Village of Canisteo conducted by the Steuben County Sheriff's Office and officers of the Village of Canisteo Police Department.
According to police, Carrieann Gilliam, 37, allegedly stole $30,523.55 from another person in the Village of Canisteo.
Gilliam allegedly then failed to report that income as was required when she completed a recertification for benefits from the Steuben County Department of Social Services and as a result she received benefits she was not eligible for.
Gilliam has been charged with one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and two counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree.
Gilliam was arrested at the Village of Canisteo Police Department by Village of Canisteo Police Officers and Steuben County Deputies. She was arraigned in the Village of Canisteo Court. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and Village of Canisteo Police Department were assisted by the City of Hornell Police Department, the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit, and the District Attorney’s Office.
