ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - We are just 5 days away from the midterm elections and officials in Chemung County are working to make sure the day goes smoothly for midterm voters.

"We're very busy down here. We are in the process right now of packing suitcases that will go out on Monday with site supervisors, which will have everything they need for the election on Tuesday," says Cindy Emmer, Democratic Elections Commissioner for Chemung County Board of Elections.

According to the Chemung County Board of Elections, there are roughly 45 polling sites where people can go. The doors will open at 6 am and close at 9 pm. With all of the sites to monitor, security is priority for officials to ensure your vote is tracked accurately. Counties across the Empire State work with the New York State Board of Elections to make sure security is up to par for every election, but this year there are a few added.

Emmer added, "The staff have gotten more training on computer security, and the state has been working with Homeland Security and other federal agencies to make sure that any midterm election is going to be secure."
