ITHACA N.Y.(WENY)-- Today was the 1st annual apple baking contest at the Cornell Orchards store located near Cornell Universities campus. The event started at 11:00 a.m. and went until 2:00 p.m. when the judging commenced. Constants were told to go out and buy what ever apples they like and just make a fun dish with them. For those who did not want to participate in the bake off, but did want to sample what was made, they could pay of fee of $5.00 which goes to the United Way of Tompkins County.

"All the funds go to United Way and all of those funds go directly into the community, 100% of what is raised will go to fund programs and services in Tompkins county," says James Brown, President of the United Way Tompkins County

The group is very excited to see how well they did today and what it means for their future apple bake offs.
