ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – The Elmira City School District has confirmed all schools are on lock-out.
In a statement to WENY News, they said, “Out of an abundance of caution, we have placed all ECSD locations on lock out status which means it is business as usual inside the building and at this time, and we are not allowing visitors at this time.”
Additionally, the school district says they are actively working on the situation and will alert parents and the community when the lock out is lifted.
Currently, it is unknown why the schools are under lockout; however, a heavy police presence was reported around Elmira High School. We have contacted the Chemung County Sheriff's Office and are waiting for more information.
