44th Annual Sparkle To Return To Market Street This Weekend
Corning, NY (WENY) – Saturday afternoon Market Street will be shut down for the annual Sparkle festival as a part of Corning's Crystal City Christmas. This years celebration marks the 44th year.
At 1:00pm on Saturday vendors will begin setting up along with businesses, getting their storefronts and tents ready for the event at 5:00pm.
The tradition is one that calls for people to come and stroll the street and enjoy great dining, entertainment and holiday shopping. Christmas carolers will be on hand in front of the candy shop and Santa's reindeer will pay a visit to the historic Market Street.
“This is a tradition where even if people don't buy during sparkle, they see something that maybe a loved one might like and they put it off on their list and they come back next week and the week after and they get their shopping done that way,” said Coleen Fabrizi, Executive Director of Corning's Gaffer District.
Centers Health Care is sponsoring the event this year and the partnership is one they look forward to every year.
“We not only like to strive with taking care of residents within our building but we recognize that our residents families are within the community, and we like to give back,” said Christina Fassett, Hospital Liaison for Centers Health Care.
