CORNING, NY (WENY) -- Good news for Northern Tier students looking to get a degree at Corning Community College.

The college's board approved a measure allowing Pennsylvania residents to earn their Associate's Degree at the same cost as New York residents, saving $5,000 a year.

The savings are compared to those paying the college's out-of-state tuition cost.

The board approved the Keystone Residential Scholarship, making it available in time for the start of the Spring 2019 semester for students who choose to live on campus.

SUNY CCC was named the number one two-year school in New York state in 2015.
