UPDATE (12/20/18) The Elmira Police Department says they are continuing to investigate the shooting incident, where a 25-year-old man from Elmira was shot. 

Police say the victim has refused to cooperate with the investigation.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – The Elmira Police Department is investigating a shooting that reportedly happened just after midnight Wednesday Morning at Gush's Thirsty Bear on Washington Avenue in the City of Elmira.

According to police, when officers arrived, they found evidence of the reported shooting and began interviewing possible witnesses. Shortly after, the 911 communication center received a call from Arnot Ogden ER reporting that a gunshot victim was being treated there.

Officers responded to the hospital to interview the victim and learned the victims was being prepared for transfer to another area hospital for further treatment. The victim reportedly was interviewed, but did not request assistance from the Elmira Police and is not cooperating with the investigation.

It is believed at this time the victim may have known the subject or subjects responsible.

The investigation is ongoing. The Elmira Police Department is asking any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Elmira police Department at 607-737-5626 or the tip line at 607-271-HALT.
