UPDATE (3:30 p.m.) - According to Sheriff Christopher Moss, the changes in employment are part of a new administration bringing in new appointments.

Moss also thanked the nine employees for their service to the county.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – A Chemung County source has confirmed to WENY News five people have been let go by the incoming County Executive Christopher Moss.

Moss currently serves as County Sheriff, but will be inaugurated as executive in the new year.

WENY News has confirmed among the five people are:

  • Samantha Potter, Communication Director
  • Bill Hopper, Director of Aviation
  • John Weever, Deputy Highway Commissioner
  • Scott Fierro, Public Defender
  • Jennifer Stimson, Social Services Director

According to Bill Hopper, the terminations are effective as of December 31.
