BROOME COUNTY, NY (WENY) -- Trooper and Adam, the two dogs State Police say were thrown from a moving SUV last week are getting better and gaining international attention.

Only days after having his front right leg amputated, the Broome County Human society says Trooper is on the road to recovery. His companion, Adam is also doing much better.

Last Wednesday, police say the dogs were thrown on to Interstate 81 and later rescued by a truck driver.

The Human Society says it's invested $5,000 in treatment for the animals, thanks in part to donations pouring in from across the country and as far away as Russia and Brazil.

The beagles are not up for adoption yet, but the Humane Society hopes to keep the pair together.
