Wellsburg, NY (WENY) – Family and Friends gathered at the Wellsburg Volunteer Fire Station Saturday to celebrate the life of fallen firefighter, David Miller.

According to Millers family, he passed away on New Years Day after battling a kidney disease.

Pictures of David from his young ages in life till recent memories played on the t-v in the station to allow everyone to remember the good times they shared with him.

At the age of 16, David followed in his families footsteps and became an active volunteer firefighter for both Wellsburg and West Elmira, making an impact on so many peoples lives.

“When loose a firefighter Chris it's like loosing a son or brother. The members of this department consider themselves brothers and sisters and indeed we have to in order to be able to operate in emergency situations. We really have to look out for one another,” said Barry Keller, Firefighter with the Wellsburg Volunteer Fire Department.

David grew up in Wellsburg and was well known for his upbeat personality, making friends with everyone he met. After graduating from high school, he became a wielder. However, his family says his number one passion was being a fireman.
