Canton Police officer accused of child sex abuse now facing 24 charges
TOWANDA, PA. (WENY) – The Canton Police Officer accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenager is now facing more charges, according to court documents.
When Joshua Gleco was first arrested, he was facing three charges of intercepting communications, four child pornography charges and one corruption of minors charge. Now, court documents say he is facing 24 total charges – 16 charges of intercepting communications, seven child pornography charges and one charge of corrupting minors. The intercepting communications and child pornography charges are felonies while the count of corrupting minors is a misdemeanor.
In January, Gleco was arrested following a 2018 investigation alleging a 16-year-old girl was having sex with the 26-year-old officer.
After a forensic scan of Gleco's phone, investigators say they found multiple images showing Gleco and the victim kissing, as well as other images and multiple recordings of conversations on the phone.
Investigators concluded the images found on the phone were suspected child pornography, due to the victim's age.
Secretly recorded phone conversations reportedly involved local businesses, agencies, offices and the victim. Police say some of the conversations with the victim were that of a nature, not in a manner consistent with an “older brother” role, like Gleco had claimed he had with the victim.
Gleco is currently in the Bradford County Correctional Facility after failing to post $200,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 13.
The Canton Borough Police Department says Gleco has been suspended without pay.
