Batavia man charged by feds after 2018 Amber Alert that ended in Mansfield
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WENY) -- A man from Batavia who was later arrested in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, is now facing federal charges after sparking a Amber Alert last year.
23-year-old Guillermo Torres-Acevedo is charged with transporting a minor across state lines for sexual activity. If convicted, he could face up to 10-years behind bars. The Amber Alert was issued when the Genesee County Sheriff's Office got word of a missing 14-year-old back on November 28th.
Cops later found Torres-Acevedo and the 14-year-old girl in Mansfield, PA, and the girl was returned to her parents. Police say Torres-Acevedo is also facing charges of rape and criminal sex act after being arrested by New York State Police just days before the Amber Alert. Torres-Acevedo was charged by Troopers because he was allegedly involved in a sexual relationship with the victim.
