HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) – Marantha Church in Horseheads was packed Saturday afternoon but not for church services.

The annual fundraising picnic is a way to raise money to send kids with diabetes to Camp Aspire Diabetes camp. Camp Aspire is based out of Rochester and gives children that have diabetes the opportunity to interact and participate in activities with other children who are going through the same thing.

“It's a thing where they all have they same problem and they all can get out and swim and do the same thing. Its everybody is equal and nobody makes fun of them. They just have a great time,” said Organizer, Barbara Johnson.

Antique Tractors and Engines working for local diabetes, presented a check for $6,200 to the American Diabetes Association for the money they raised last year.

Saturday's fundraising picnic included a 50/50 raffle for various items that were donated.
