Historic Elmira recognizes restoration advocates
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Preserving Elmira's past and honoring those who make an effort to do so. That's what happened Wednesday night at the 11th Annual Historic Preservation ceremony.
The ceremony was held to recognize people who advocate or help carry out various historic preservation projects in Elmira. One award was given to Seth and Susi Adams -- for their work on the former Werdenberg Building on West Water Street. The former clothing store that was in business for over a hundred years, is now home to three commercial spaces and four apartments.
"It's a visible way to see progress in downtown Elmira. Several projects have been done already and we have several in the works, and we can see piece by piece the downtown of Elmira coming back alive," said Mike Hosey, Chairman of Historic Elmira Incorporated.
