Reed secures millions for local Head Start programs
WASHINGTON (WENY) -- Children in Chemung and Tompkins counties will soon be getting a boost.
Representative Tom Reed has announced over $6 million dollars of grant funding to provide the Southern Tier with Head Start services.
Head Start promotes the school readiness of young children from low-income families through agencies in their local community.
Services include early learning, health, and family well-being to support the comprehensive development of children from birth to age five.
"We care about ensuring our children receive a quality education," Reed said. "We are proud to support programs like these that give kids the tools they need to succeed in school."
Grant funding will bring these services to the Economic Opportunity Program of Chemung County and Tompkins Community Action.
