Pennsylvania man dead after plane crashes in Endicott
ENDICOTT, N.Y. (WENY) – A 77-year-old man is dead after a plane crash in the Village of Endicott.
Police say on Monday just after 11:15 a.m., Broome County Emergency Services received a report of a plane crash near Tri-Cities Airport on Industrial Park Boulevard in Endicott.
Fire and police crews that responded to the scene say they found a single engine Trella T-21 plane that had crashed on Norfolk Southern Railroad property between Industrial Park Boulevard and Airport Road.
The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene. He's been identified as 77-year-old Russell Darrow of Brackney, Pennsylvania.
Officials say the investigation into the cause of the accident is being handled by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
Responding agencies and those assisting with the incident included the Broome County Sheriff's Department, New York State Police, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police and personnel from the Norfolk Southern Railway, Union Emergency Squad, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the NTSB.
