ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Back for another year, the Eldridge Park Fireworks event sponsored by the Chemung Canal Trust Company (CCTC) and Wegmans is scheduled for this Saturday, June 29th.

"We're very please to be partnering with Eldridge Park and Wegmans to help draw people to the park for an old-fashioned community picnic," CCTC Vice President and Assistant Director of Marketing Scott Heffner said. "This marks our eleventh year and each of the previous events have been incredibly successful. With the park enhancements made during the past few years, we expect this year's festivities to be better than ever."

Fireworks will go off when the sun goes down, but there will be plenty to do beforehand with the event starting at 3 p.m.

There will be live music, park rides, mini golf, boating on the lake, and free inflatables and children's activities,

Vendors will be selling food, but attendees are also welcome to bring their own picnic.

Due to limited parking inside the park, a free shuttle services, provided by CTRAN, will be available throughout the evening from the Wegmans' parking lot on Clemens Center Parkway. On-site handicapped parking will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, at the lot accessible from Woodlawn Avenue. Only handicapped parking is available in that lot.

"Dating back nearly a century, Eldridge Park has helped create boundless amounts of summertime memories for area residents," Heffner said. "We're hoping this annual event continues to reignite those traditions, while simultaneously allowing newer residents the opportunity to create new family traditions."
