Preps for Corning's 'Taste of Summer' currently underway
CORING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Plans are in full swing for the Crystal City's main summertime event! The 2019 "Taste of Summer" is happening on Thursday, July 25th from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
It offers visitors a chance to get a little "taste" of what the Gaffer District has to offer. The event will still be taking place on Bridge Street, despite the bridge closure. There will be a shuttle service from Tioga Avenue set up to help visitors get to the event.
This year's set-up will be a little different, featuring a "Retail Island" with a section designated for shopping, featuring stores from the Gaffer District, and more!
"We're going to have a food court this year so all of the Gaffer District businesses and eateries are going to be in one designated area. And the anchors will be Captain Morgan's and Carey's Brew House and in between we'll have tables and food. And of course we have a Kid's Zone and great music," says Barb Whitman, Communications and Marketing Director with the Gaffer District.
This year's musical guests include a Tom Petty tribute band, called "Southern Accents" which will be playing from 7:00 -- 9:00. And before that performance, the local favorite rock band, The Royal Tease, will be jamming on stage from 5:00 to 6:30.
