Falling Into a Burning Ring of Fire
This week across the Twin Tiers we are getting prepared to see temperatures in the 90s and dew point values reaching the low 70s. This will cause outside temperatures to feel like near 100. Although temperatures are expected to reach the 90 we will be expecting showers and storms to move through the region as well. This is because we are on the edge of an upper level ridge which is commonly called "The Ring of Fire," among meteorologists. This is because on the outer edges of an upper level ridge you typically get rising motion and with all the moisture in the air, the threat for showers and storms persists through much of this week.
