ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- Are you looking for a job or a career switch? THE T-S-A and the Chemung-Schuyler-Steuben (CSS) Workforce are teaming up to help you get a job. The Elmira-Corning Regional airport continues to grow and the TSA is looking to hire.

On Thursday July 25th from 9 am to noon at the Elmira Career Center on 318 Madison Avenue in Elmira, the TSA will be hosting a recruitment event to fill needed positions. Starting pay is over 15-dollars an hour, plus benefits. WENY talked with the Executive Director of CSS on how you should prepare for this opportunity and why it is important to interface.

"There will actually be interviews directly on site on that day. Folks should come prepared to do an onsite interview. Dress appropriately,give yourself ample time, bring fresh copies of your resume," says Daniel porter, Executive Director at CSS NY.

He also says,""The strength of this event and why I would really encourage folks to come to this event is that they actually get to interface with folks, and that's a really big distinction."

WENY also spoke with a TSA official to see what exactly they are looking for in an employee. Some guidelines before you can apply include; you must be a US citizen, have a high school diploma or G-E-D, 18 years or older, and you must be proficient in English. Also, I spoke with a TSA official on some of the day to day job requirements and why it is not for everyone.

"We are looking for a person that could implement the security screening procedures. Which if you've ever flown you know what those are. They consist of are bag searching, x-ray operation, and the actual pat downs. That's a position a lot of people have a difficult time with, the actual touching of people because it's a part of what we do and an important part of what we do," says James Chapman, Deputy Assistant Federal Security Director at TSA.
