WATKINS GLEN, NY (WENY) - Day 1 of NASCAR at Watkins Glen International is in the books as cars finally hit the track on Friday for the first race of the weekend and additional practices.

The first race of the weekend was part of the K&N Pro Series East, the Great Outdoors RV Superstore 100. The race was called short with just 7 laps remaining due to a thunderstorm that moved through the area, so the leader at the time, Max McGlaughlin, was crowned the Great Outdoors 100 Champion. This was the first NASCAR win for the 19-year old on his first ever road course race.

The Xfinity Series also hit the track for their practices as they get ready for Saturday's Zippo 200. They will qualify at 10:35 AM with the official race to begin at 3:18 PM.

These all lead up to the big race of the weekend, the Go Bowling at the Glen, part of the Monster Energy Cup Series on Sunday.
