HORNELL, N.Y. (WENY) -- New York State Police and the Department of Transportation are teaming up for "Operation Hardhat", and it's a joint effort to crack down on people who speed through work zones.

Troopers will patrol though several active work zones around the Rochester and Hornell areas. Not only will Troopers be on the look out for speeders -- but they'll also be looking for drivers who violate the state's move over law. As a reminder, officials say the move over law is for emergency and construction vehicles.

Police say work zone speeding tickets will be double the normal fine, and two or more work zone speeding tickets could cost you your license.
