Elmira man sentenced for 2018 shootout
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- An Elmira man was sentence to 15-years behind bars after being convicted for a 2018 shootout on Grove Street.
28-year-old Tarell Calafell, who is a prior felon, was sentenced to not only 15-years in prison, but he has also handed down 5-years of post release supervision. He was convicted of attempted assault, and criminal possession of a weapon back in June.
The July 26th 2018 shootout happened near the intersection of Grove and Gray Streets. Police say Saad Wyche, also of Elmira, started shooting at Calafell, who ended up firing back. Wyche is currently behind bars in the Chemung County Jail, awaiting further court proceedings.
