Youth raises funds for Lawrenceville Fire Department
LAWRENCEVILLE, Pa. (WENY) -- Branden Swimley, 10, decided to set up a Kool-Aid stand this summer. And with prices at just $0.50 per cup, he managed to raise $150 for the Lawrenceville Fire Department.
His father is a fire chief, and his mother is an EMT, so the blaze that destroyed the fire department's garage hit close to home.
After the success of the first Kool-Aid stand, Branden will be having another stand to raise money for the department on September 21.
The Lawrenceville Fire station went up in flames on Saturday, July 27. The department lost multiple fire trucks and is dealing with significant building destruction as a result of the blaze.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. At this time, an inventory is in the process of being compiled.
