Military Family Salute and Barbeque held at Eldridge Park in Elmira
Elmira, N.Y. (WENY) - The Elmira Elks Lodge has prepared a lunch to honor fallen soldiers and active-duty members. Today is the Military Family Salute and Barbeque.
All military family and friends, active-duty members, veterans, reservists and agency partners are invited. The event will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m at Eldridge Park. The park is located at 96 Eldridge Park Dr.
Today's keynote speaker will be Father Lewis Brown. Brown was ordained in 1967 and became a U.S. Navy Chaplain in 1985. He served as an active-duty member for 22 years. Now, he volunteers at several different charities and organizations.
One of the organizations he volunteers at is the Finger Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross is hosting today's event and everyone attending was asked to RSVP to the Red Cross by September 1st.
Everyone attended will be able to enter at free admission.
