Attorney Blair Sibley files lawsuit against New York's Red Flag law
Steuben County, N.Y. (WENY) – Attorney Blair Sibley stood before a judge this morning at the Steuben County Courthouse in Bath to discuss his views on pistol permits.
In addition to the first lawsuit he filed against New York State's Red Flag law, he filed a similar lawsuit against the system. Sibley disagrees with the Red Flag law and believes that New Yorkers should be able to possess handguns in their homes if secured by the Second Amendment.
Sibley says self-defense is the reason people should be able to have a pistol inside their homes. In addition, he also believes people should have the right to know why they get denied if they happen to.
He does agree with the Supreme Court that guns should stay out of the wrong hands. For instance, people who have mental health issues, have problems with drugs or a history of violence should not be able to have a pistol inside their homes.
Sibley's request continues to be denied. Another hearing is expected sometime next month.
