Police have now identified the victim as 31 year old Wendi M. Owens of Enfield.  

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of death.


ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) – Police are investigating after a body was found in Six Mile Creek in Ithaca. The Police Department reported a body was floating in the water after behind the railroad bridge off of Fulton Street.

WENY News received a press release just after 5 last night. Kayakers found the body floating and called the department. The body was removed from the water.

Officials are saying the body found is a female between the age of 25 and 35 years old. Ithaca Police believe the body was in the water for a few hours before it was discovered.

The woman's name has not yet been released. Police are still investigating this incident. No further information is being released at this time.
