Minor injuries after tractor trailer crash on I-86 near Corning
UPDATE (9/24/19) Officials say the driver of the tractor trailer had minor injuries, but declined medical treatment on scene.
According to Larry Smith, Assistant Chief of the Painted Post Fire Department, the cause of the accident is unknown at this time; however, it had rained shortly beforehand.
The tractor trailer was loaded with orange juice and crews also had to clean up spilled diesel fuel, but Smith says the scene was cleared around 9:00 p.m. Monday.
RIVERSIDE, N.Y. (WENY) -- Traffic on I-86 westbound near Corning was blocked after a tractor trailer jack-knifed Monday evening.
The trailer was completely disconnected from the truck when WENY News arrived on scene. The crash happened around 6:30 Monday evening between exits 44-B and 44-A in Riverside. Traffic that was behind the crash had to get off of the highway at exit 44-B.
WENY News is working to see if anyone was injured and to find out if police know how it happened. WENY News tried to contact officials after hours, but we have yet to hear back.
