Man convicted of killing teenager on bike path in upstate New York
COHOES, N.Y. (WENY) - A man has been convicted of killing a teenager on a bike path in upstate New York. It was all over revenge for marijuana thefts.
According to Albany Times Union, a jury convicted Thomas Slivienski on Friday following two hours of deliberation. Prosecutors say Slivienski planned to meet the 17-year-old victim on a bike path in Cohoes last November when he shot him in the head.
Investigators find that Slivienski set up the killing because the victim and his friends robbed Slivienski during two previous drug deals. The 23-year-old is facing second-degree murder charges and is set to face 25 years behind bars when he is sentenced on November 22nd.
Reports find the victim's family left the country more than 8 years ago to get away from violence.
