ELMIRA, NY (WENY) - The Elmira Express girls soccer team has reigned supreme in the STAC West for the better part of a decade. On Tuesday night, the Express officially clinched their 8th straight STAC West title. Now, they gear up for another STAC tournament.

The Express will take on STAC Metro champs, Maine-Endwell, on Tuesday at 5:00 PM at Maine-Endwell High School. The Spartans beat Elmira 2-0 earlier this season. Express Head Coach Zach Sarno says, "It's going to be a good matchup. I think both teams are going to be well prepared and, for us, we're just trying to tighten up some things. You know, be as sharp as we can be so come next Tuesday we'll be ready to go. It's always an exciting atmosphere down there and things are usually ramped up, but we'll be ready to go and give them what we got."

For Sarno, the run of 8 STAC West titles comes down to one thing. He says, "One of the staples of our program since we began. we always use the word consistency. I feel like, if you use the word consistency and think about that, I guess that's how you get 8 straight STAC West titles."
