MANSFIELD, PA (WENY) – Police in Pennsylvania are looking for the driver they say hit a dog and drove off, leaving the animal dead in the street.

According to Mansfield Police, the crash happened Friday afternoon in Jackson Township. The crash took place on Main Street, right near North Road.

Police have not yet found the driver, but they are saying they believe they know the type of car that was involved in the deadly hit-and-run crash. The vehicle that police are describing is a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck.

According to a press release, the driver was traveling South on State Route 328 when the dog crossed the road. The driver proceeded to take off. Police did not say what kind of dog was hit or if the owners have been located or warned.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this accident is asked to call police in Tioga County to help lead them to the person responsible.
