Corning, NY (WENY) -- The newest Corning apartment complex is inching closer to being done. 176 Denison Apartments, already has a number of leasee's, getting ready to be the first to move in.

They're about 5 months away from finishing the first half of the first building. The project will bring a much needed mixed use building to the heart of Corning’s downtown. It sits on the site that was previously the old Corning hospital building. The developer said they've already leased a number of apartments.

The developer and construction crew have been working on it since since they broke ground back in September 2018. Riedman's Community's president David Riedman, the developer said construction is right on time.

''Progress has been great. the interest in the property has been great. right now we're 20-percent leased which has been a terrific response.” said Riedman.

176 Denison will feature studios at around 600 sf., 1 bed, 1bath as big as 1020 sf. and 2 bed, 2 baths as big at 1345 sf.

Corning director of planning and economic development, Jennifer Miller said the apartments aren't all that the 176 Denison has to offer; that, there's other amenities including, an I-lounge, and coffee bar, plus a fitness room.

“Dog park. Resident amenities for like outdoor kind of living.” said Miller.

“This location within the city and the proximity with market street has proven to be something obviously people are very interested in.” said Riedman.

Riedman said the first half of the first building will be done by July.

“Couldn't be happier with the design of the project. with the progress that we're making. we should be moving out first people into here in march.” said Riedman.

But this is just phase 2 of a 3 part build. The first part including Corning Community Colleges new medical building that sits right across the street. Phase 3 will include building another residential building on first street. That will add an addition 35 or so apartments.

“We knew that demand existed and it get to see the projects actually happen, to kind of meet that demand.” said Miller.

With prices ranging from $995 and up it'll ensure there's something for everyone.
