ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Cody J. Gaylord has been convicted in Chemung County Court of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation First Degree.

The charges stemmed from an incident in February when Chemung County Sheriff's Deputies encountered Gaylord and determined that he was under the influence, after a series of nonsensical statements.

The defendant reportedly admitted to having used meth, and that he hadn't slept or eaten in two or three days.

Gaylord has six prior misdemeanor convictions, including a prior DWI, drug possession, and criminal contempt of court. The crimes of which he was convicted yesterday are both class E felonies, carrying a maximum sentence of one and one-third to four years in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for next month.
