Caitlin Murphy joined the WENY News team in March 2018 as the producer for the 5:30 and 6:00 weekday shows. Previously, she produced short, independent films in Boston, MA as part of a program at Boston University.
Before moving to Massachusetts, Caitlin moved to the Finger Lakes Region in 2016. Before that, she lived in Western New York, Oklahoma and Alabama.
In 2017, Caitlin graduated from Saint John Fisher College in Rochester New York, where she served as club president and news anchor for Cardinal Television. She received the “Jack Palvino Excellence in Media and Communication Award”during her senior year.
During her college career, Caitlin also worked summers at The Wellsville Daily Reporter in Allegany County as a Human Interest Reporter. In 2015, she won the “Distinguished News Supplement Award of Excellence” from The New York News Publishers Association for work on a special edition of the newspaper for the Wellsville Balloon Rally.
On the weekends, Caitlin enjoys hiking local trails, reading and spending time with her friends, family and cat, Scout, who she adopted from the Horseheads Community Animal Shelter.
