"Pink in the Rink" come back to First Arena
Elmira, NY (WENY) -- The Elmira Enforcers added a splash of pink to their uniform, adding to their traditional color of green. The colored socks were part of “Pink in the Rink” a breast cancer awareness night.
Before the puck drop several breast cancer survivors were honored. “Pink in the Rink” also serves as a critical fundraiser for the Susan G Komen Foundation. Last year they were able to raise nearly $4,000. This year a special pair of socks, signed by all the members of the Enforcers was also raffled off, with all the proceeds going directly to the foundation. Beth Mattison, a breast cancer survivor herself and rose recipient said fundraisers like these have helped her in her battle with breast cancer.
“This is great that they give us roses. i totally love the hockey. i mean i came to the Jackels. they supported us, now enforcers. it means a lot that there's people out there that support us.” said Mattison.
