BATH, NY (WENY) -- This is the season of giving and one local police department will be giving back at their annual event. We visited the Bath police Department earlier this afternoon to find out why this years event is different. This will be the fifth year of Shop with a Cop and Chief of Police in Bath, Chad Mullen, says he's excited to help the kids and it brings him joy to see their faces.

"To watch the interaction, and the change in their personalities, and the change in how they saw us as police officers from the start of it to the end of it was amazing," said Mullen.

Mullen also tells us that this year will be a bit different.

"This year we are now it's going to be the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, our agency, the Bath V.A police, the Corning police Department, and New York State police, and New York State D.E.C. We'll all be doing it down in Corning because the K-Mart here is closed now."

Mullen also says to donate, contact your local police barracks and that giving back brings the community together with his officers and other first responders.

"To be able to give back to our community that gives to us is amazing. The people in this area are very pro police, pro first responders and to be able to show them what we can do for them is just topping on the cake really."

As of now, the event will be held in December, but no date is set.
