ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) – The Ithaca Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 737 partnered with “Operation Warm” to provide children in need with brand new winter coats.

On Wednesday, firefighters gave out 36 winter coats at the Beverly J. Martin Elementary School. They stayed on hand to read books and talk about fire safety.

In a statement, the IPFFA said it “strongly believes in the mission of Operation Warm”, saying a winter coat not only keeps a child warm, but gives them the “ability to focus on their education and help provide the students with the confidence and self-esteem they need in order to succeed”.
