NEW YORK, N.Y. (WENY) – New numbers have been released on the number of new HIV diagnosis in New York City.

Health officials say the number has fallen below 2,000. This is the first time the number has been this low since the city began keeping records in 2001.

According to reports, 1,917 people were diagnosed with HIV in 2018. That's 11% down from the previous year. In 2017, 2,157 people were newly diagnosed.
