(WENY) - Construction projects on New York state highways were suspended this morning and will not resume until Monday morning.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the hold on temporary lane closures and bridges this morning to accommodate travelers during the busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation is installing nearly 300 additional electronic message boards and traffic cameras along traffic corridors in the state.

These will last beyond just next week. They are part of the governor's initiative to improve communication with the traveling public, and promote greater situational awareness among drivers and traffic system managers.
