ELMIRA, N.Y.(WENY)-- If you did not get enough shopping in on Black Friday, Saturday November 30th, Small Business Saturday kicks off all over the country. This day traditionally occurs after Black Friday to promote shopping locally and finding gifts that you may not be able to find a the big box stores. Local business owners encourage community members to shop locally, so their money will go right back into the community and help support their friends and neighbors.

"Small businesses are people from the town that live here, work here, spend money here and care about the community, you know like the parade this morning, it was all small business's people that did that," say Paul Kingsbury, Owner of Kingsbury's Cyclery in Downtown Elmira.

Kingsbury told WENY News that days like Small Business Saturday are important to highlight those in the local community who put their life into their businesses.

"Small business Saturday is important just to remind that there are small businesses that are local businesses and support our community and spend our money in our community so it's an important day," says Kingsbury.

Kingsbuy said that his store will be open tomorrow and he will have hot chocolate waiting for anyone looking to get out of the cold.
