Chemung Co. man arrested for allegedly defrauding over $750,000 from cattle farmers
VETERAN, N.Y. (WENY) – A man from the Town of Veteran has been arrested for allegedly developing a financial scheme involving the purchase and sale of cattle.
The Chemung County Sheriff's Office says its Criminal Investigations Division first began investigating 39-year-old Michael Rogers in November of 2017 after receiving complains from numerous owners and operators of cattle farms in the mid-west and through the northeast. Police say Rogers owns and operates Rogers Farms.
Over a period of time, Rogers allegedly defrauded over $750,000 from the victims.
He was charged by a Chemung County Jury with three counts of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, one count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and one count of Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree – all felonies.
He was arrested on a superior court warrant and sent to the Chemung County Jail pending further court appearances.
