CORNING, N.Y.(WENY)-- Giving Tuesday is a globally celebrated event asking everyone to give a little back through a charitable donation or act. Tuesday morning, the Wineglass Race Series announced their annual non-profit donation to promote the day of giving back. The organization donated their largest amount yet of $110,000 which will go back to more than 50 non-profits who assist at the races.

"The ability to reach and have this great of reach within the community is key to the donation of $110,000 which is our greatest donation in one giving year.  and takes us up to over 600,000 sine 2011 that we've given back and put back into the community," Shelia Sutton, Director of the Wineglass Marathon, tells WENY News.

Organizers with Wineglass told WENY News that they tend to keep their donation announcement on the quiet side, but this year they wanted to make it public, in order to promote the importance of giving back.

"Giving Tuesday is important, we all should be giving back our time, money, resources. It's important and this is part of what this organization is about and what we stride to do," says Sutton.
