CHEMUNG COUNTY (WENY) – Brody is this week's adoptable pet with the Chemung County SPCA. He is a 2-year-old hound mix. Arynn Brucie with the SPCA says he could fit into a home with dogs and cats. If there are kids in his new home once he is adopted, Brucie suggests the kids to be at least 6 years old.

Yesterday was Giving Tuesday. Brucie would like to thank everyone for their support and choosing the SPCA. She says the outcome was “successful.”

Winter weather is here and it is important to keep your pets safe in the cold temperatures. Brucie says it is important to wipe your pets feet when they come back inside, especially if they are running around in areas where salt has been put down. Salt can be toxic for dogs. She suggests booties and sweaters to keep them warm and to keep time outside limited. Although it is important for dogs to get out and run around, it is important to keep them warm and safe as well.

The SPCA has gifts this holiday season. Sweatshirts are available. They were just delivered to the shelter yesterday. Certificates are also available. If someone wants to donate to the shelter in honor of someone, they will receive a personalized certificate.
