(WENY) -- The Cayuga Health System announced the expansion of its telemedicine program, which allows patients to stay at home and get the medical support they need -- all at their fingertips.

Cayuga Health says the expansion is in response to COVID-19, and with that expansion patients now have access to over 200 providers. Patients can use their smart phones, tables, or computers to have online appointments. Health professionals can see and hear the patient in realtime with the help of technology. A treatment plan can be developed, and medication can be ordered for the patient without the patient ever stepping foot in a facility.

Surgeons can also use this telehealth system, and although they cannot perform surgery over the internet, they can do post surgical checkups.
