WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) – Thursday, The Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel presented a $25,000 check to the American Red Cross.

The donation will go towards assisting victims of house fires, fire preparedness as well as the “Sound The Alarm” program. Through that program, the Red Cross promotes home fire safety and installs smoke alarms in to homes for free.

The money was raised through the 2020 Ice Bar event.

“I think it's a wonderful event for the community,” said Scott Bell, general manager of the Harbor Hotel. “It brings people together. It's amazing to me what people will do in four degree temperature, and dance outside.”

“It brings people together from a volunteer standpoint. I will say the American Red Cross is not only the recipient of a check, but we could not do this event without them. Their volunteer support in assisting us with running the event is unparalleled, it really is.”
