BURDETT, NY (WENY) -- This week in Wine Country, sponsored by Finger Lakes Wine Country, WENY's Renata Stiehl and Laury Ward with Finger Lakes Wine County talk with Brian McKenzie, President of Finger Lakes Distilling.

The distillery is located on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake, in Schuyler County. The distillery makes award-winning craft spirits, including whiskey, vodka, brandy & grappa, gin and liqueurs. The distillery is now offering craft cocktails that can be enjoyed on the patio, Friday and Saturday evenings from 5 - 9PM. Masks must be worn to enter the distillery, but can be removed during tasting. Social distancing must be followed.

Recommended Cocktail: Finger Lakes R&R:
? 2 oz. McKenzie Rye Whiskey
? 1.5 oz. Rhubarb Simple Syrup
? .5 oz. Lemon Juice
? 1-2 Strawberries
? 3 dashes Rhubarb Bitters

Instructions:
? To make Rhubarb Simple Syrup. Chop up fresh rhubarb stalks. Bring all ingredients to a boil (equal parts sugar and water), reduce heat to low. Cook until the rhubarb is falling apart (20-25 minutes). Remove from heat, let mixture cool, then strain.

? Muddle Strawberries and simple syrup in a shaker. Add additional ingredients with ice. Shake and pour into a rocks glass, top with ice.
